Shares of YES Bank (number of shares traded: 2.89 crore), GMR Infra (number of shares traded: 1.28 crore), SBI (number of shares traded: 0.74 crore), ICICI Bank (number of shares traded: 0.65 crore), Tata Motors (number of shares traded: 0.56 crore), ITC (number of shares traded: 0.54 crore), IDFC First Bank (number of shares traded: 0.49 crore), GTL Infra (number of shares traded: 0.43 crore) and ONGC (number of shares traded: 0.41 crore) also featured among the most traded stocks on the NSE. RIL (Rs 266.67 crore) was leading the pack of most active stocks in value terms.
It was followed by ICICI Bank (Rs 259.64 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs 222.03 crore), HDFC (Rs 185.69 crore), SBI (Rs 141.60 crore), Bajaj Finance (Rs 139.12 crore), TCS (Rs 83.37 crore), Maruti Suzuki (Rs 82.60 crore), ITC (Rs 76.70 crore) and Kotak Bank (Rs 67.59 crore).
The NSE Nifty index was trading 966.10 points down at 8624.05, while BSE Sensex was down 3090.62 points at 29,687.52 around 09:29 am.
In the Nifty index,Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 20.00 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 16.70 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 15.89 per cent), GAIL (India) (down 15.32 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (down 15.06 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
