The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is just a few weeks away and it is that time of the year when the cricketers look forward to their club camaraderie instead of the country. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one such side where the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will rub shoulders for a couple of months with the common aim of making their franchise India’s best. The RCB will kick off their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders at home on March 31.

On Monday, the camaraderie was out when the two ace batsmen engaged in a conversation among themselves on Twitter. They did not use their private messengers for the talks but the common social media platform for their fans to see and add to the buzz around the upcoming tournament.

De Villiers started it all by asking Kohli what was he doing and the India captain promptly replied with two emojis, suggesting he was killing time sitting in front of the TV. De Villiers then responded with the emoji of a burning cracker and when Kohli asked him what it was about, the former South Africa cricketer posted a picture of a sofa set that exploded in a few moments and the words “Get off your ass” emerging. The idea was to suggest Kohli not to sit idle in front of the idiot box.

AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are RCB’s main pillars

Kohli and De Villiers will be Bangalore’s main hopes in their pursuit to lift the trophy for the first time. The duo has been playing consistently well in the IPL over the year but the franchise has remained unsuccessful in winning the title even once although they made the final on three occasions.

Kohli’s fans will be worried as the ace batsman is out of form at the moment and faced two sweeping losses in the recent ODI and Test series in New Zealand. De Villiers, who is considering a return to international cricket keeping in mind the T20 World Cup later this year, was in a good form in the Mzansi Super League in his own country but in not-so-great touch in his maiden Big Bash League after that.
