Sky News host Chris Smith says he doesn’t believe Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos “needs to apologise” for her criticism of a Melbourne GP who treated patients while infected with coronavirus.

Ms Mikakos said she was “flabbergasted” the doctor returned to work following a trip to the US, despite having cold-like symptoms.

Doctor Chris Higgins – who is also the father of Australian singer Missy Higgins – had treated at least 70 patients before diagnosis.

On Sunday, the Australian Medical Association’s President Dr Tony Bartone said Doctor Higgins deserved an apology from the Ms Mikakos.
